Royal University of Agriculture (RUA) is a leading administrative public institution in Cambodia, who plays vital role in educational programs associated with agriculture and related sectors for all levels. RUA was founded in 1964 under the monarch, King Norodom Sihanouk. Below is the brief historical timeline of RUA:
1964-1975: Royal University of Agronomy Science (RUAS). Between 1965 and1975, approximately 200 students graduated from the University.
1975-1978: Khmer rouge regime, the University was closed.
1980-1983: Reopened and named as Institute of Agricultural Education (IAE), which only provided short course programs (2 to 6 months) in agriculture.
1984: Became an Institute of Agricultural Technique (IAT). Since it was formed, the institute offered the major causes in agronomy, animal production and health, agricultural machinery, forestry and fisheries. Within Soviet Union support, the courses were instructed by Russian instructor and used their language.
1990: The Russia sponsor was ended, later the teaching was provided by Cambodian lectures in Khmer language.
1994: The institute developed into the University namely Royal University of Agriculture (RUA).
1999: RUA became the first public administrative institution in Cambodia.
2000: RUA the first Higher Education Institution applied credit system for undergraduate programs.
2002: Started to offer Master program in agriculture and related fields.
2006: Established advanced curriculum, Doctoral programs in agriculture and related fields started to offer.
