The disciplines in the College of Arts and Humanities have been a traditional cornerstone of higher education in all of the world’s civilizations. In our fast-paced world of globalization and technology, the arts and humanities are more vital than ever. Following such traditions, the mission of this college is to advance knowledge, foster intellectual inquiry, and cultivate creative endeavor among faculty and students through teaching, research, scholarship, and public and professional involvement.



As a result, our students are able to think clearly and creatively, write fluently, and speak persuasively, can be part of an informed citizenry and shape the world in the twenty-first century. Further, on reading our Degree requirements, you will realize that our programs require students to not only do courses in their Major specialization; but also to take up electives to broaden their intellectual horizons.

DEGREE PROGRAM

The Bachelor’s degree in English includes the following components:

Core courses on the English language and its usage

Courses on writing in English

Courses on Specialized English

Courses on Professional English

Courses on English Literature

FOUNDATION YEAR

The University of Cambodia’s Foundation Year Program for new students has been officially recognized by the Accreditation Committee of Cambodia. It comprises eight compulsory core courses (24 credits); together with two oriented courses (6 credits) relevant to the student’s chosen major. For English, students must dotwo of the following oriented courses (3 credits each):

EDC101: Principles of Education

ENG105: Practical English Language in Use

ENG106: Introduction to the Appreciation of Literature

EMPLOYMENT PROSPECTS

Graduates from The University of Cambodia’s English program can expect to find jobs in, for example, education, the media, governmental and other organizations, tourism and other situations where there is contact with non-Cambodians.
